En el Valle de Calamuchita (Córdoba - Argentina), entre las sierras se encuentra esta “preciosura” de casa. La casa es un pabellón de vidrio transparente con eje norte sur paralelo al valle como alusión cultural al hecho natural. La caja de vidrio, entre cuatro piedras que alojan los servicios, consta con un espacio fluido en su interior.

Por razones climáticas de fríos invernales y noches frescas, por la altitud del lugar, la caja de vidrio está envuelta en una caja de madera. Esta caja de hojas plegadizas y corredizas permite generar mayores o menores aberturas proveyendo variables dimensiones y sensaciones de intimidad e interioridad. Esta unidad se completa y complementa con una torre de estudio-dormitorio y mirador que alude al eje vertical de la montaña.

Una escalera vidriada provee visiones diversas del bosque posterior. Llegamos a la terraza “mirador”, que permite como en cada nivel, amplias vistas hacia el Valle. Este actúa como jardín y como patio que completa la casa, además, sobre la pendiente del valle se encuentra localizada la pileta.

The Valley of Calamuchita is a calm landscape of fields cultivated between two parallel mountain ranges. The fields lie east to west between the skirts of the great mountain ranges and the skirts of the small mountain ranges. The fields for a tapestry between mountain walls and in the case of my field, between rows of trees. The house is elevated on the hill with a smooth slope that falls towards the Valley.

The house is a transparent glass pavilion with the North - South axis parallel to the valley like a cultural reference to the natural fact. The glass box, between four stones that enclose the services, is a space fluid in its unitary interior sometimes dining sometimes an additional sleeping area. For climatic reasons of cold winters and fresh nights, and the altitude of the place, the glass box this surrounded in a wood box. This box of sliding shutters allows small or large openings providing variable dimensions and sensations of privacy or openness.

This unit completes and complements with a tower of study, bedrooms and viewing platform, that alludes to the vertical axis of the mountain. A glass enclosed stairwell spirals around the outside of the building, allowing all 4 aspects of the surroundings to be taken in as one passes from level to level. At the top you arrive at the terrace viewpoint that allows, like in each level, extended lines of vision towards the Valley. By day the living area, surrounded by the service blocks, mimics the valley, at night the tower recreates the mountain. At night I escape to the safety of the mountain tower, returning at dawn to the living area and valley.

Me gusta mucho el diseño de esta silla y mesa realizado por Ryan Frank, luce como una silla normal pero después te das cuenta que está realizada en madera gracias a los desperdicios escritorios antiguos.

Este es un de los nuevos conceptos vistos en GreenHouse Effect, una exhibición que fue parte del Festival de Diseño en Singapur y estuvo enfocado en el diseño sustentable.

Todos tenemos dispositivo mobiles - accesorios electrónicos y estamos acostumbramos a cargar los mismos cuando nos vamos a dormir. Por mas que estos ya esten completamente cargados siguen consumiendo electricidad. Es por ello que este ingenioso dispositivo (Lullaby Plug) posee internamente un regulador de tiempo que con solo jalar activa el tiempo deseado de carga. Cuando los artefactos ya se encuentran cargados la sortija comienza a subir hasta que finalmente corta el consumo energético.

We have many mobile and electronic accessories, and when we charge them we tend to leave it on and forget about them (or go to sleep). Even while they are fully charged, the devices still consume phantom electricity. For that reason, the Lullaby Plug is a power socket with an intuitive timer interface. Pulling the string down activates the power supply; the length you pulled is proportionate to the time you require. As the device gets charged, the ring slowly retreats upwards until it finally cuts off power after the desired timespan.

No hay mucho para decir de este teclado, al menos en lo que hace a sus posibilidades escriturales. Las teclas son como las de todos los periféricos de este calibre y su disposición tampoco es nada fuera de lo común.

En lo que sí innova como ningún otro es en la incorporación de un teléfono, ideal para utilizarlo en llamadas VoIP. Además del teclado alfanumérico, en la parte derecha del BKBU-SKJ109/SV de Buffalo podemos ver como reposa este teléfono Skype, que evita la molestia de un teléfono adicional sobre el escritorio para realizar este tipo de llamadas. Para el funcionamiento del aparato, sólo se requiere un sencillo software para que el teléfono se contacte con el software del programa que descansa en el ordenador.

The Buffalo keyboard features a phone attached to the right hand side of the keyboard. It allows everything you need to communicate be right there with you. For some reason it reminds me of something Dr. Evil would have on his desk, although looking at the size of the actual handset, it’s probably something he has mini-me use.

When the BKBU-SKJ109/SV (Long way of saying Skype keyboard) is released in Japan it will cost $65. The phone is Skype certified and just requires a small piece of software to communicate with the Skype software on your computer.
