Este nuevo concepto de Whirpool es una tentativa de abordar la perdida de energía y del recurso en la cocina media. ¿Cuántas veces usted ha calentado algo en el horno y después se ha preguntado que se puede hacer con el calor que queda dentro? Ok, tal ves eso sea mi culpa ecológica, pero este nuevo concepto esta diseñado para ser un 70% eficiente que las cocinas estándares y 24% más baratas en funcionar.

Inspirado, al parecer en los ciclos naturales del ecosistema, el sistema contiene el calor de la bomba de los refrigerator y lo utiliza para calentar el lavaplatos. El 60% del agua se reutiliza también y el refrigerador en sí mismo se divide en compartimientos para no derrochar tanto aire frío hacia fuera cuando usted abre la puerta.

This new Whirlpool concept is an attempt to tackle some of the rampant energy and resource wasting that goes on in the average kitchen. How many times have you heated something up in the oven, and then wondered whether anything useful can be done with the spare heat once you’ve finished cooking? Ok, maybe that’s just my eco-guiltiness, but this new concept is designed to be 70% more energy efficient than standard kitchens and 24% cheaper to run.

Apparently inspired by natural ecosystem cycles, the system grabs heat from the refrigerator’s pump and uses it to warm the dishwasher. 60% of the water is reused as well, and the fridge itself is compartmentalized into drawers, so you don’t spill as much cold air out when you open it.

The Brelli es el nombre de este ingenioso paraguas que es completamente degradable en 18 a 24 meses (aunque seria mejor nunca arrojarlo a la basura!). Este particular paraguas es producido en dos diferentes tamaños: 37 y 52 hinches. Tanto sea para la lluvia o para protegernos del sol, esperamos que la gente considere este “sustentable diseño” como un accesorio necesario y con estilo.

The Brelli will apparently completely biodegrade in 18 to 24 months (though we would hope that there would be no need to dispose of it!). This artfully constructed umbrella is made in two sizes, a stow away 37″ diameter and a sidewalk parading 52″ diameter. Whether rain or shine, we hope that you will consider The Brelli as a possible way to clear the clouds of confusion when it comes to accessorizing in sustainable style.

El iPhone no es solamente un buen dispositivo para llamar o ver contenidos multimedia, ya que el software Current State, le posibilita activar y desactivar de forma remota los toma corrientes. Además incluye la característica “hotspots”, que no es otra cosa que mostrar el consumo que está teniendo en tiempo real cada elemento que está conectado en su hogar. De esta forma se puede ahorrar mucha electricidad y ayudar el ecosistema. Lo único malo de todo esto, es que es un concepto a desarrollar. ¿ Abra alguien afuera suficientemente brillante para poder desarrollar este programa?

The iPhone isn’t only good for calls and viewing multimedia content, but with the Current State software, it empowers you with the ability to turn plugs on and off, activate timers while keeping track of everything remotely thanks to plug-ends which bridge power sockets that are synced to your handset. The included feature of showing “hotspots” of energy wastage is definitely a boon as you can then tell just how environmentally friendly your energy consumption at home is. Too bad this is but a concept at this point in time - will somebody brilliant out there give enough thought to program something like Current State?

Estos postes de iluminación están ubicados en el Centro de Tecnología de Panasonic en Tokio, y usan la luz solar y el viento para cargar sus baterías, a diferencia del Solar Tree, que sólo usa energía solar. Al llegar la noche, la energía almacenada sirve para alimentar el sistema de iluminación. Según Panasonic el costo de estos aparatos, se recupera rápidamente con el ahorro en la cuenta eléctrica.

Spotted at Panasonic’s technology center in Tokyo, these street lamps combine solar power from a pair of panels on top that charge a battery during daylight hours, and a vertical wind turbine, to light up the area in an ultra eco-friendly way using no external power source. Dubbed Seagull Lights by the company, Panasonic claims that their cost is quickly paid back in lower electricity costs. They even look particularly cool as the turbine slowly spins around.

Este es un de los nuevos conceptos vistos en GreenHouse Effect, una exhibición que fue parte del Festival de Diseño en Singapur y estuvo enfocado en el diseño sustentable.

Todos tenemos dispositivo mobiles - accesorios electrónicos y estamos acostumbramos a cargar los mismos cuando nos vamos a dormir. Por mas que estos ya esten completamente cargados siguen consumiendo electricidad. Es por ello que este ingenioso dispositivo (Lullaby Plug) posee internamente un regulador de tiempo que con solo jalar activa el tiempo deseado de carga. Cuando los artefactos ya se encuentran cargados la sortija comienza a subir hasta que finalmente corta el consumo energético.

We have many mobile and electronic accessories, and when we charge them we tend to leave it on and forget about them (or go to sleep). Even while they are fully charged, the devices still consume phantom electricity. For that reason, the Lullaby Plug is a power socket with an intuitive timer interface. Pulling the string down activates the power supply; the length you pulled is proportionate to the time you require. As the device gets charged, the ring slowly retreats upwards until it finally cuts off power after the desired timespan.

Es sabido que en el futuro los problemas ambientales relacionados con la energía se volverán más serios aun. Es por eso que el francés Kechenyi Camille (ganador de una mención de honor en el concurso Eco-cook 2015) ha realizado este diseño con el objetivo de reducir el consumo energético. “Mi cocina es un objeto que ayuda a ahorrar el consumo de agua, energía y tiempo. Todos los días mucha gente cocina pastas, arroz, vegetales, etc. y es por eso que se necesitan muchos recipientes. Mi idea es que en un único recipiente se pueda cocinar 2 o 3 tipos de comida al mismo tiempo”
