Reuniones en un huevo, la oficina está organizada en cubículos muy austeros pero están salteados de lugares comunes donde poder reunirse o mantener una conversación telefónica en privado. Los huevos son sólo un modelo de estas salas de reuniones, que están distribuidas por todo el edificio.

Google presume de ser una organización de plana donde se trabaja en pequeños grupos independientes, que luego necesitan colaborar con el resto. Reunirse de manera relajada es clave.

La compañía ofrece un servicio de masajes a los que dedica un espacio propio. Esta vez, los empleados tienen que pagar el servicio, pero sólo una pequeña parte. El día que cumplen años corre a cargo de la casa.

The company offers a service of massages to which it dedicates an own space. This time, the employees must pay the service, but only one small part. The day that turns years is the responsibility of the house.

A Philips le gustan los colores, lo demuestra con muchos de sus productos como pantallas con un halo de luz de colores cambiantes Ambilight o el sistema de luces amBX. Ahora llevan estos colores a algo mejor, a una especie de pantalla con 1420 LED diseñada para que los niós jueguen y creen formas.

Es una pantalla interactiva en propia regla, esta instalada en un hospital de Arkansas (EE.UU.), permitiendo dos cosas: que sea un reclamo publicitario para Philips y que cuando vayas al hospital con niños estos no den tantos problemas y jueguen tranquilamente. Y es que para eso esta diseñado, puesto en una sala de espera para intentar que no exista tanta tensión en una fria y en ocasiones triste sala de espera.

Personalmente, me llevaba una de estas para mi casa, las visitas tiene que flipar.

Philips Electronics Unveils first “Imagination Light Canvas” at the New Mercy Medical Center in Rogers AR;

Encourages Visitors in Waiting Area to “Paint with Light”

Rogers, Arkansas - Philips Electronics (PHG) today unveiled their “Imagination Light Canvas,” the first of its kind, during a media tour of the new Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Ark. The hospital will open its doors on March 16.

The canvas, displayed in the Women’s and Children’s waiting area, is an interactive light wall, 14-feet long and 6-feet high, that uses touch screen and Philips technologies to animate 1,420 LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights. By using their hands to draw on the wall, visitors can “paint with light”, using an entire spectrum of colors and shapes. The images will remain visible for a few minutes and then disappear. The Imagination Light Canvas can accommodate up to six people drawing at the same time, yet only consumes the daily energy equivalent of a single toaster.

The Light Canvas is a gift from Philips employees to the patients and staff of the new hospital.

Paul Zeven, CEO of Philips Electronics North America, stated, “We wanted our gift to harness some of our advanced technologies that would provide the area residents with a positive, healing experience, delivered in a simple, easy-to-use manner, in keeping with our brand promise of ‘Sense and Simplicity.’”

“We created the Imagination Light Canvas specifically for the Women’s and Children’s waiting room of the new hospital,” he explained, “to lessen the tension, anxiety and stress that families often experience when waiting for child birth. We predict it will be a big hit with both children and adults.”

Susan Barrett, president of Mercy Health System of Northwest Arkansas, stated, “Mercy is extremely grateful to Philips for helping us transform the healthcare environment for our visitors.”

The new Mercy medical campus represents an extraordinary effort to transform the way healthcare institutions function. On one hand, it involves core issues such as patient safety and workplace simplification as well as the application of information technology to fundamental processes such as medication management and supply chain management; on the other, it entails replacing a 50-year old building with a new facility that will enable Mercy to continue its mission.

The East Beach Cafe diseñado por el creativo británico Thomas Heatherwick’s esta ubicado en el pequeño pueblo de Littlehampton y responde al concepto de “bar container”. Thomas Heatherwick es un excelente diseñador británico que desarrollo conceptos de toda índole… desde bolsos de mano, interiores de locales comerciales hasta puentes.

Para el proyecto East Beach Cafe se produjo una interesante unión entre el diseñador y el cliente; una mujer que compro un viejo cafe que estaba cerrado con la idea de hacer algo innovador. Ella comento:”la vista de mi casa da a la playa este y por eso quiero salvar este viejo espacio”.

El efecto que produce esta genial arquitectura (conocido como “Efecto Bilbao”) esta teniendo mucho éxito en Littlehampton, donde una multitud de personas recurren a conocer y comer pescado en este extraordinario cafe de playa.

Thomas Heatherwick is the great British design star of the last decade, pushing forward concepts of what design can be on all fronts, from handbags and shop interiors to bridges. For the East Beach Cafe, as with many iconic creative works, it was the happy union of designer and client that helped realize the project. It is often the foresight of a open-minded client that creates great opportunity and in this case it was Littlehampton resident Jane Wood. She bought the site after the old beach cafe closed down and, appalled by the proposal for a new unsightly cafe, she moved to stop it. She said of her impetuous decision, “My house looked out on to East Beach. I felt I had to save this very special place and so I did a crazy thing and bought the business.” The transformative effect of great architecture (otherwise known as the “Bilbao effect”) is taking hold in Littlehampton, where the masses are making the pilgrimage to eat fish and chips in the extraordinary East Beach Cafe.

A large north lit industrial warehouse within the old mill district in Mumbai is to be converted into a complex of sound recording studios and an acoustic lounge. This lounge will consist of a restaurant, bar and a live stage. Beyond this amalgamation of provisions, Blue Frog seeks to stage an acoustic experience par excellence.

En el reciente viaje a IKEA Seattle, observamos a este stand y automaticamente nos agarro la curiosidad de saber que es lo que ofrecian. Lo que nos encotramos fu tecnologia que sincroniza tu telefono movil via mensajes de texto y codigo de barras. Pero por que querran hacer esto?

Por ahora solamente te da acceso a diferentes cupones sobre promociones de la semana y te envian las actualizaciones via mensaje de textos. Nosotros no pudiomos tomar ventaja de esos cupones que nos ofrecieron, pero creemos que deberas mostrar tu celular cuando pagas en la caja.

We spotted this kiosk on a recent trip to the Seattle IKEA, and immediately were curious as to what it offered. What we found was a cool use of technology that allows you to sync your mobile phone via text message and barcodes. But why would you want to do that?

What we had hoped for was a way to make a shopping list for the dreaded self-serve area, but we didn’t find anything that cool. For now, it gives you access to several coupons and specials for the week and sends you regular updates via text message for deals and discounts. We didn’t take advantage of any of the coupons offered, but we’d guess you have to show or scan your cell phone as you check out.
